Nurse Ann Venables travels to Africa for a disaster relief mission, leaving her teenage children, Alex and Molly, with their father Jimmy and grandmother Diana. The siblings seize the opportunity to play the laid-back handyman against his sophisticated ex-mother-in-law, instigating constant clashes between the two. However, as their antics escalate, Alex and Molly come to understand that they must unite with both adults to navigate the challenges of their mother's absence and find stability in their lives.
